Your workouts are important meetings that you scheduled with yourself. Bosses don’t cancel.
Sure, you have your Livekick trainer to hold you accountable, but what about YOU holding you accountable? Why is that work deadline more important than your health?
Challenge yourself this week to start thinking about the ways in which you can prioritize YOU.
Here are some tips:
- Start claiming 10-15 minutes a day for yourself. Whether this consists of meditation, exercise, a date with yourself, or whatever else, this time is crucial. Use this time to connect with yourself and to pay attention to how you feel and what you need. (Tip: Try not to save this for the end of the day when you are too tired to move and your brain has turned off!)
- Adopt the following mantras: “I’m doing my best,” “I am enough,” and “No one expects me to do it all.” Put them where you can see them and remind yourself of them frequently.
- Write down a select few doable steps. Not a to-do list, but a small number of action items that you know you can accomplish the next day. Each evening, identify your top 3 action items for the next day and decide when you will accomplish them. If they start to seem overwhelming, make them even smaller. A 15-minute walk that you take is better than the 45-minute one you couldn’t fit in.
Put yourself first. You matter.
