Of course you know that working out is one of the best things you can do for your body, mind and soul!! But as far as your hormones are concerned, and specifically cortisol, there is a balance.
So let’s back up a bit, shall we? Feeling overwhelmed is a common human experience. And while it may be common, it is NOT healthy! It can definitely lead to full burnout if you are not careful!!! It can totally trigger feelings of stress and fatigue. Before you know it, you’re on the verge of a health crisis because you just don’t feel like you can keep up. Overwhelm actually triggers your body’s fight-or-flight response and that means your cortisol levels shoot up, your muscles tense up, your blood pressure goes up. It can get serious! It can wreak havoc on your body, crush your productivity and can ultimately put you in the hospital! We are not messing around here.
So back to your workouts. You can actually “over exercise” and trigger more cortisol secretion.
